Major John Simpson Victoria Cross Ancestry Tour Scotland. A famous gravestone at St Martin's Churchyard, St Martin's, Balbeggie, Perthshire, Scotland. Major John Simpson served in the 42nd Regiment, later The Black Watch, Royal Highlanders. He won his Victoria Cross during the Indian Mutiny, on 15 April 1858. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland on 29 January, 1826. Died 27 October 1884, St Martin's, Balbeggie, Perthshire, Scotland. Hi Victoria Cross is in the County Museum of Natural History, Los Angeles, California, USA.
